During 2025 our educational focus will be to improve Literacy and Numeracy skills — staff, students and families working together so all our students achieve at least 12 months growth. Other goals for the year are:
Build a community that continues to learn
-Improve student achievement in English & Mathematics, through HITP coaching and explicit, evidence-based teaching.
- Enhance student achievement in English & Mathematics by strengthening staff data literacy, focusing on analysing and applying data to inform and improve teaching and learning practices
Build a community that is connected -Improve student attendance and strengthen family engagement to support learning and wellbeing.
Another two weeks done and dusted and only one to go! What a first term we have had. We gathered last Friday for Mass and Assembly, it was an opportunity for our students and staff to showcase everything that is wonderful about our school. Not only is Mass a time to celebrate our faith, it provides the opportunity for students to refine skills - reading, serving, tech operators, singers. Fr Hilary made the comment on how beautifully our students responded and sang. Halfway through one of the hymns, I stopped and listened to the joy and happiness filling our church. Assemblies are a highlight to our weeks, well done to our leadership class and teachers, what a talented bunch of humans you are!
Next week is a busy one. Tuesday will see primary students with high attendance, travel to the Griffith cinema for their reward. Many thanks to Angie Hayward for driving the school bus for us. Infant students will attend on Thursday. Wednesday is our Cross Country Colour Run, Community Lunch and Trash & Treasure. Please send your lunch order in with your child if you would like to order from the Bowling Club. Our last day of term will be celebrated with 3/4 Mass, 2/3 Assembly and our Easter Hat Parade. We warmly invite you to join us on Wednesday and Friday.
If you are able to join us on Wednesday, please consider assisting us with manning colour stations, selling fruitboxes and zooper doopers! The more people at the Colour Run, the more colourful it is for our students.
It was great to see the take up of our second Lunch Order day. Please be aware, we are not able to make changes to the menu. Also CORRECT change is a must – we do not carry change at school. Many thanks to Shelly and Mark for supporting this day. An addition to the menu is Fried Rice by itself for $8.
As with the last few years, ANZAC Day falls in the holidays. We hope students are able to join us on 25th April, meeting at the Post Office at 10:45am. Winter Uniform is requested. Many thanks to the Ukelele Group that has been visiting to teach us the New Zealand national anthem.
As the term finishes, I want to acknowledge the amazing staff at St Francis Xavier School. All planning and decision making is based on the well being and progress of each student. This often results in staff changing days, working extra days, taking on additional roles, picking up additional duties, working in home time. This is the stuff that is not evident to families but it is the stuff that makes our staff exceptional. Thank you to each and every one.
We wish Mrs Fyfe all the very best, as she represents her town at the Sydney Royal Easter Show! We wish Ms Ashlea all the best with her prac. We thank Ms Wheeler for covering Kinder / Year 1.
Wishing you all a blessed Easter and safe and happy holidays. We look forward to welcoming students back on Wednesday 30th April.
Blessed are you, loving Father, for all your gifts to us.
Blessed are you for giving us family and friends to be with us in times of joy and sorrow, to help us in days of need, and to rejoice with us in moments for celebration.
Father, we praise you for your son Jesus, who knew the happiness of family and friends, and in the love of your Holy Spirit.
Blessed are you forever and ever.
