A Tribute to Pope Francis (by ArchBishop Prowse - taken from Catholic Voice)
We mourn the death of our beloved Pope Francis. What a great gift Pope Francis has been as our Pope over these 12 years.
He has been a Pope of many firsts. He is the first Pope who was a member of the Society of Jesus (Jesuits). He was also the first Pope from the Americas and the Southern Hemisphere. He was the first Pope born and raised outside Europe since the 8th Century.
Finally, he is the first Pope to have chosen the name “Francis” as his Papal name.
Pope Francis has given so much hope to the Catholic Church and the world in general. He has been a Pope who has encouraged us to open ourselves more fully to the merciful love of Jesus.
Pope Francis interacted with the crowds in a very personal way. He would continually stop his Pope-mobile to embrace and bless children and the infirm. Quite often there were old friends invited into his vehicle or unexpected people going for a ride! Pope Francis also made an annual trip to wash the feet of prisoners during Holy Week.
Pope Francis was always insisting that everyone is welcomed into the Church no matter what their situation.
May his dear soul rest in peace.
Month of May - Celebrate our Mothers and Jesus' mother, Mary.
May is the Month of Mary. For centuries, the Catholic Church has set aside the entire month of May to honor Mary, Mother of God. We also celebrate all Mothers this weekend.
Happy Mother's Day to all the wonderful mothers and grandmothers in our school community! We're so grateful for your unwavering support, love, and guidance in our students' lives. Your dedication to nurturing and shaping our children is truly inspiring. This Mother's Day, we wish you a day filled with joy, love, and relaxation!

Year 3 have just completed reading their first novel of the year, "Matilda" by Roald Dahl.
This has been a great novel to start the year of literacy learning with. We will start a new novel this week, and we are all looking forward to sharing the story, "Yirra and Her Deadly Dog, Demon" by Anita Heiss.
Students are also writing speeches for the upcoming CWA Public Speaking competition. This competition is for students in Year 3-6, but we will aim to give Year 2 an opportunity to write and present a speech as well. There are 3 topics to choose from:- A life in the day of ....., I like collecting, or It's too noisy!
Students are looking forward to celebrating their mums and nans this weekend. Students have completed a Simile Poem about their mums or nans, we hope our special mothers/nans will enjoy their special day on Sunday!
