Build a community that is connected

We have been blessed this term with relatively normal school routines and learning, of which we are most grateful. We continue to be grateful every day that we have not returned to remote learning and are able to see the students each day to work together to learn and enjoy school life. Thank you to families that have supported the school community with ensuring our students and staff can remain healthy and safe.
We have missed the opportunities to share our learning and achievements with families through assemblies and face to face contact but are really hoping that the COVID restrictions may reduce somewhat next term. We are hoping that you are keeping up to date with some of the learning, successes and fun activities through our FaceBook page.
Update for Families on COVID-19
St Francis Xavier School and Catholic Education continue to take advice from health authorities in relation to COVID-19. The Catholic Education Office has a team that is actively monitoring the COVID-19 situation as it develops, paying particular attention to local hotspots and organising support for schools where required.
With the holidays coming very soon we ask families to continue to be vigilant in keeping safe and healthy. If during the holidays any family visits an area that is considered a hot spot the health requirements are that the family isolate for 14 days on return. Continue to ensure that anyone who presents with COVID-19 symptoms in your family is tested.
Should you have any questions in relation to our school and COVID-19, please feel free to contact our office.
School Satisfaction Survey
Thank you to the families that took the time to complete the satisfaction surveys. The feedback has been collated and will be used to make some decisions regarding our 2021 school improvement plan.
Some areas that we can celebrate from the survey are:-
- Our school is seen as a safe place for students
- Our school is welcoming and families feel they have the opportunity to be involved in school life
- Technology supports student learning
- Catholic Religious identity is a strong focus in our school
Some areas for improvement include:-
- Our reporting processes to inform families of their child's progress and areas for improvement
- Ensuring that all students are engaged, challenged and extended in their learning so that there is continual improvement
- Ensuring our school manages behaviour incidents well
Staff will be working on our 2021 improvement plan next term so if any family considers there are any other areas for improvement please do not hesitate to contact me.
Today at SFX we celebrated Pirate Day to raise money for Childhood Cancer. The children (and staff!) loved coming to school dressed as a pirate and ejoyed some fun pirate games in the afternoon. Donations can be made on the below link, https://www.talklikeapirateday.com.au/teams/st-francis-xavier-pirate-day
PLEASE NOTE: The first 2 days of Term 4 are Pupil Free Days due to some important staff professional learning days. Staff will be completing these learning opportunities via Zoom, so school will be open.
