During 2023 our educational focus will be to improve Literacy and Numeracy skills — staff, students and families working together so all our students achieve at least 12 months growth. Other goals for the year are:
Build a community that continues to learn - Implement system Literacy and Numeracy initiatives which will increase student assessment data.
Enhance and maintain the wellbeing of all - Continued increase of attendance rates and implementation of school-wide Well Being Policy.
Build a community that is connected - Increased promotion of the school Vision and Mission statements throughout the community and to continue to increase family attendance at school events.
Welcome to Term 4!
This week saw Year 3/4/5 students go on an excursion to Parkes Telescope, Old Dubbo Gaol and visiting the Sculture Trail between Forbes and Condobolin, with the highlight being the ZooSnooze at Dubbo Zoo. Staff and parents were exceptionally proud of all the students. A very big thank you to Anthony Morris and Kristy Brooks for accompanying the students on the excursion and for their assistance over the 2 days. Thank you also to Miss Rebecca for organising the excursion with Mrs Golding.
Year 6 students attended their first full day Transition this week at the Central School this week - we thank the Central School for this wonderful opportunity for our students to prepare them for High School.
We also had our first Kinder Transition day this week. Thank you to Mrs Morris and Miss Shannon for planning the program and making these days a successful learning opportunity!
Welcome back to Miss Bri Pilon - Mrs Bri Fyfe! Congratulations on her marriage last term! We have missed you and are so pleased to have you back with us this term. Mrs Fyfe assisted with the Kinder Transition and provided relief for Year 3/4/5 class - they were so very excited to have Mrs Fyfe again!
Please check out the dates for some of the special events we have planned for this term. Come and join us during these events - Halloween Disco, School Community Council Meeting, Dress Like a Teacher Day - Books in Home Assembly, Mission Week activities, End of Year Thanksgiving Mass and Presentation Night - to name a few!
Religious Life of School ~ World Mission Month
Catholic Mission is launching the celebration of World Mission Month 2023, focusing on Pope Francis’ World Mission Sunday message, ‘Hearts on fire, feet on the move’.
The October appeal highlights the burning passion that drives missionaries around the world to take action for a more just world.
During this month we will fundraise to support Catholic Missions to help them as they support children (over 118 000) and communities, with their 278 Projects around the world.
Loving God we pray for Pope Francis, that he will continue to lead the world towards, mercy, tenderness, healing, peace, and security.
Loving God, we pray for peace in the midst of violence and injustice in this world. May we have the patience to be understanding, the courage to forgive, and the grace to admit when we are wrong.
Loving God we pray for all families from refugee backgrounds, that they will find safe haven, open hearts and welcome in places that show kindness to strangers.
Loving God, we pray for all First Nations Peoples and we acknowledge their stewardship of your precious creation for 60,000 years. May we learn from their wisdom, working towards a sustainable future where the land is nurtured, respected, and shared by all.
Loving God, we pray for the children and young people of the world, especially those without access to education. May they grow to live full lives and be just leaders, inspired by your Son Jesus to bring about your kingdom on earth.
Amen
Halloween Disco - 30th Oct 2023
A wonderful experience was had by our Year 3/4/5 class. The class wrote about their expereinces and here is Sasha Hayward's recap of the Excursion
The excursion
On Monday we went on an excursion to Dubbo Zoo. We had to get on the bus early in the morning. We stopped at Parkes and had our recess at the park. Then we went to the dish which was massive. At the Dish we had a scavenger hunt. We got back on the bus at lunchtime and went to the Old Dubbo Gaol. There was an actor that pretended to be a prisoner and he was talking about all the escapes. Then we went to the park in the afternoon before we arrived at the zoo. We had tea and then went on a night tour. We saw koalas, wallabies, and many other things. The next morning, we did a zoo tour and saw lions, lemers, and other animals. After we looked around the zoo we got on the bus and left. On the way we had KFC and McDonalds for lunch at Parkes and then finally got home. It was so fun.
The Lake Cargelligo Early Learning Centre would like to invite families who are currently using or those that are not accessing but would like to use the OSHC to complete the follow survey to help them gather some local data on families in our area.
