During 2023 our educational focus will be to improve Literacy and Numeracy skills — staff, students and families working together so all our students achieve at least 12 months growth. Other goals for the year are:
Build a community that continues to learn - Implement system Literacy and Numeracy initiatives which will increase student assessment data.
Enhance and maintain the wellbeing of all - Continued increase of attendance rates and implementation of school-wide Well Being Policy.
Build a community that is connected - Increased promotion of the school Vision and Mission statements throughout the community and to continue to increase family attendance at school events.
Co-Principalship for St Francis Xavier School in 2024
2023 has been my 12th year as St Francis Xavier School Principal, and while this position is an absolute privilege and honour, it is also challenging and time-consuming. This year has seen my third granddaughter born and some family needs compete with my ability to dedicate wholly to the role.
Catholic Education, Archdiocese of Canberra and Goulburn (CECG) have accepted my request to a temporary arrangement in 2024 where I will be able to work part-time in the Principal role and share this important responsibility, with a Co-Principal.
I am pleased to congratulate Mrs Rachael Morris in her appointment of the Co-Principal of St Francis Xavier School in 2024. An official letter will be sent home to all families from CECG director Mr Ross Fox.
Mrs Morris and I have worked exceptionally well together as an Executive team over the past 7 years. This will continue with the change in roles next year.
I will be working Tuesdays to Fridays, with Mondays off. I will also be back in the classroom more, which I am really looking forward to as well.Thank you for your support to me as Principal of St Francis Xavier School and thank you for your continued support moving forward.
Mrs Morris was lucky enough to hang out with the class last week. In preparation for Remembrance Day, we looked at the history of the day, how it is observed and why it remains such an important date for us, in today’s world. We had a great discussion, Mrs Morris was very impressed with their responses. Ask your child what a purple poppy signifies!
Final Transition Day and Information Session
Final Transition Day and Information Session
Next week, 21st November will be the final transition day for the 2024 Kindergarten class! It has been fantastic to see the children grow in confidence, build connections with staff and students and demonstrate some fantastic learning behaviours!
We will conclude the Transition program with an Assembly at 12:00pm. After this there will be a session for families, providing information on St Francis Xavier and also a follow up for Lake Learning Links. Families are encouraged to join us for a light lunch at the conclusion of the info sessions.
Many thanks to Miss Shannon, Mrs Carter, Miss Karli and Miss Eryn for the work they have put into delivering the program. And a special thanks to celebrity literacy guru Liz Townsend for sharing her time and knowledge with us each week!
