During 2024 our educational focus will be to improve Literacy and Numeracy skills — staff, students and families working together so all our students achieve at least 12 months growth. Other goals for the year are:
Build a community that continues to learn - Implement system Literacy and Numeracy initiatives which will increase student assessment data.
Enhance and maintain the wellbeing of all - Continued increase of attendance rates and implementation of school-wide Well Being Policy.
Build a community that is connected - Increased promotion of the school Vision and Mission statements throughout the community and to continue to increase family attendance at school events.
Student attendance is up! We are very proud to share that overall, Term 2 attendance has increased from Term 1. Arrival times have improved too, with most students arriving by morning assembly. This is a great whole-school achivement, we are proud of all of you! Attendance awards will be presented on Friday.
Last Friday, 12 students represented our school at the Western Region Athletics carnival in Termora. Nearly every student improved their nominated times and distances! This achievement demonstrates the determination of the students, but also the commitment of their teachers who gave up their breaks to train the students over lunch time - thank you teachers. Many thanks to Mrs Elwin, Mrs Golding, Mrs Fyfe and Ms Rachael for travelling with the students and to the families who provided additional transport, supervision and support on the day. Congratulations to Aiden who is eligable to participate in the Archdiocean Carnival next term.
Class Teachers are finalising Semester reports this week. In preparation for this, students have been participating in assessment tasks. This allows teachers to record progress and achievement. Reports will be available via COMPASS on Wednesday Week 10. Families will be invited to meet with teachers early next term. Semester 1 reports are grades only, no comments.
Our School Community Council gathered last week. Several items were discuss, including fundraising plans and priorities for the remainder of the year, ongoing support for staff recruitment and feeding into the child safety plan. The SCC reviewed the success of the athletics carnival and discussed the Term 4 fundraiser - look out for this exciting opportunity! The SCC will meet again next term. Please remember, all families are welcome.
This week, we complete the Complience Registration process. We will welcome a Senior Officer from CGCE who will meet with staff and review all documentation. We look forward to the visit and see it as an opportunity to acknowledge what is going well but more importantly, identify areas that need improving. We will share feedback from the visit in the next newsletter.
Hopefully, many of you will have the opportunity to join us on Friday, for Mass and assembly. Assembly is being presented by our Infant students. We will also present Books in Homes and awards. Cuppas in the staffroom from 10:45am!
Every Tuesday morning, staff gather for morning prayer. We rotate who prepares and leads the session each week. Each week is different, it is a little insight to each of us, what we pray for and how we do it. It is space for us to settle and listen and be together.
Tuesday's Prayer:
Experience the day full as we reflect on the time we share together, we pray for all of the families in our school community and around the world. Gold of wonder, on the day we were born you began your work in us. We know that you continue to work not only in us but through us, help us be good servants, always doing your work wth open and eager hearts. Whatever comes out way today, keep us positive and peaceful, always mindul of your presence and sustaining love amonst us. Give us strength and courage to expereince fully each moment of this day. Heal all that is painful in us and give us your peace. What over us, protect and guide us throughout this and every day. Amen.
