Principal's Report

Another special and busy week for St Francis Xavier School Community...

A wonderful NAIDOC celebration day was had on Tuesday. This year’s theme, "Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud & Proud" was highlighted throughout the day with all students working through dancing, painting and sporting activities.

The theme honours the enduring strength and vitality of First Nations culture – with fire a symbol of connection to Country, to each other, and to the rich tapestry of traditions that define Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

A very big THANK YOU to Aunty Sharon, Aunty George and Mrs Golding (with the support of all staff) for making our celebration so special. And a big SHOUT OUT to Mrs Carter for arranging Thomas Kelly's visit.

Ms Wheeler has been extremely busy organising our Show display and organising students' art and craft work to be including in the show pavilon on the weekend. Good luck to all our students and thank you Ms Wheeler!

We have had many CGCE consultants visiting the school this week, working with teachers to support teaching practises and student learning. Thanks to the following -

* HITP Coach, Michael Roberts, and Pat Ellis, Curriculum Officer from CGCE - both observed our teachers and congratulated the teachers for the improvement in their teaching practices.

* Well Being and Diversity Team members - working with teachers to continue to support the learning in our classrooms

* Financial Business Partner - working on 2025 budget

Our Occupational Therapist Students, Nicole Martin and Sarah Querisa, presentated their project to us this week. They have created wonderful resources for our school, that can be used to support all of our students. We have been extremely lucky to have had these 2 students with us over the past 6 weeks and all classes, students and teachers have benefitted from their knowledge, expertise and dedication. Next week is their last week with us and we thank them and wish them all the very best with their next placement and the rest of their studies.

Thank you to all our families that supported the Scholastic Book Fair last week. We sold over $1000 worth of books so have been able to purchase many new books for our school library!!!

Kinder. Year 1/2 helped us celebrate Fathers Day in our School Mass today. We wish all fathers, grandfathers and special men in our lives a very special day on Sunday.

Our next School Community Council meeting is set for Wednesday 4th September. We are trailing a new start time in the hope that more families will be available to join us. We will begin the meeting at 4.45pm. Any items you want to be discussed please contact Rebecca in the office.
