Classroom Update

Barrandhang (Kinder/Year 1)

The K/1 students have started the year showing they are ready to learn. The Year 1 students have been wonderful role models to the new Kinder students, teaching them the school rules, and the Kinder students have thrived off this. From our morning discussion and 'Make your favorite activity from your holiday out of play dough' activity, it is clear the students had wonderful holidays with a range of adventures. After talking about our school rules, and reintroducing them to the students, we decided as a class to come up with some actions to depict each school rule. The K/1 students enjoyed come up with the actions and after many discussions and alternative suggestions we ended up with the perfect actions for each rule. We can't wait to see where the school year takes us on our learning adventure.

Although Year 2/3 are in the same classroom as last year and together again all students are showing growth in their maturity and an impressive willingness to be successful learners.
Year 3 students have started reading the novel "Matilda" by Roald Dahl in Literacy lessons, learning new vocabulary and learning how to write complex sentences.
Homework will go home next week, with reading, writing and maths as the main focus this term. There will be some NAPLAN practise work coming home next week as these assessments will happen very soon.
Mrs Morris and Mrs Elwin feel very privileged to be able to teach Year 2/3 and are looking forward to meeting with all families so we can work together to support the learning success of all. Please do not hesitate to contact us at any time with any questions or concerns that you may have.

Class communication will be through the Dojo App - invitations will come home early next week.

Year 4/5/6 have jumped straight back into routine, settling in as the 2025 leaders of our school. They have openly embraced their role as buddies to our new Kinders. Our first day back was all about their roles and what to expect as leaders with team building activities. Students had the opportunity to build confidence through presenting to their peers, by taking in turns to read aloud their written recounts of their holidays, at the front of the class. We discussed not only what makes a good speaker, but also a respectful listener. This week will involve a range of tests, assessing their literacy and numeracy skills to determine the year going forward.
