International Day for Rural Women
Thank you to all that supported us ceebrating our school's Rural Women! It was a wonderful opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate these amazing women.
Helen Templeton, one of our past parents and present grandparent shared her thoughts on the special day...
International Day of Rural Women recognises the critical role and contribution of rural women, including indigenous women, in enhancing agricultural and rural development, improving food security and this year 2020, “to support rural women and girls to not only rebuild their lives after COVID-19 but increase their resilience to be better prepared to face future crisis”.
Whether it is climate change or not (in our personal views), one thing for sure Australia and the world has always had disaster; from droughts, fires and flooding rains and now COVID. During these times one thing is assured, the resilience of rural women and their ability to turn hardship into opportunity. All rural women deal with the consequences of these in the best way they know and learning from each event and each other leads to a growing network of inspired and progressive leaders who will steer the rural women of rural communities, such as Lake Cargelligo, to ensure our community and industries flourish.
We as rural women, stand by our men and women to support and contribute when and where needed.
Cheers to and thanks to
