Last week our students in Year 3-6 were privileged with a visit from Mr Matt Kean. In order to raise awareness (and funds) for our national cancer. Matt and others (including the Sanson boys completing a part of the journey) will be completing a 1000 km bike ride around the Riverina Region in NSW from the 31st March -7th April 2022.

The aim of this ride is to continue to raise awareness of the disease that has affected Matt's life and so many members of the Riverina community.

The ride will be the culmination of a 3-week journey of visits to students at local schools, as well as community groups in the region spreading the message the 'Prevention is Better Than A Cure'!

Our most common cancer in Australia is skin. In fact, Australia is the skin cancer capital of the world! The good news is that skin cancer is one of our most preventable cancers.

Nearly all skin cancers are directly related to your exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation; this means, that when you protect your skin from the sun’s UV radiation you reduce your risk of skin cancer.

Matt will be riding into Lake Cargelligo on Sunday 3rd April, with the Sanson boys. He will leave on Monday morning, 4th April from St Francis Xavier School at 9am. To support Matt on his journey we will be providing breakfast for our school community with Matt and Brett, Mark and Paul Sanson. Come and join us for breakfast on the 4th of April, between 8.30 and 9am - all families are welcome to join us and help us wish the riders luck as they head off.
