Last Friday was World Teachers Day. We have an amazing staff of teachers at St Francis Xavier School and I am so very proud to be able to work alongside each and everyone of them! The students had the opportunity to write thank you cards to the teachers and they made our teachers smile!
Some of the thanks yous included -
Thank you for keeping our school a safe place to come. Thank you for teaching me. Thank you for playing with me. Thank you for helping me with the work that I find hard.
Thank you St Francis Xavier School teachers for making a difference everyday in so many small and big ways to our school community! A special Thanks also to Fr Dominic for his blessings last Friday at Mass.
We are nearly half way through the term and we continue to survived the additional restictions placed on school. We are very proud of the students and the way they have coped with the limited playground spaces and having to remain with their cohorts.
Thank you to families for also supporting the school through keeping any unwell child home. It is greatly appreciated.
Last weekend was Grandparents Day in Australia. We celebrated a special liturgy last Friday in church and it was a beautiful celebration thanks to Mrs Whiting, Year 2/3 students and Fr Dominic. Thank you to the grandparents and friends who came and celebrated with us ~ it was so lovely having you join our celebration.
Grandparents Day is an opportunity to show our love and appreciation for all the things our grandparents do for their grandchildren and families. I would like to thank all our grandparents for their support of our school this year, and look forward to inviting you all back to share many more celebrations with our children.
God of Love, Thank you for every teacher who notices a child’s special gift. Thank you for teachers who are listeners and gentle guides. Thank you for teachers who expect much and love enough to demand more. Thank you for the special teacher each one of us remembers.
God of Mercy, Sustain teachers who give everything they have. Strengthen teachers who assume the blame for so many problems beyond their control. Help exhausted teachers rest.
God of Strength, Encourage teachers to care and inspire them to nourish. Motivate teachers to keep on learning for the fun of it and to make learning enjoyable for children.
We wonder at teachers who know how to quiet a class of five year olds or help fourth graders be empathetic. We admire teachers who enjoy middle school writers, or teach physics or math of history. Bless the people who are expected to accomplish these miracles and who know how to comfort children when miracles don’t happen.
God of Justice, help and support teachers in their special calling, wherever they teach and whatever obstacles they must face. We pray these things in the name of our great teacher, Jesus Christ.
Amen.

Small Schools' Swimming Carnival - Monday 14th February - CLAIM the DATE
Due to COVID restrictions we have decided to postpone the Small School's Swimming Carnival till early Term 1. The date for this carnival is Tuesday 15th February. As this will be only our 2nd week back we will only take students 8years+. Please save this date as we will need as many helpers as possible.
We are also the host for the Western Region Swimming Carnival on Thursday 24th February. This will involve approximately 200 competitors from our Western Region schools. We will again need many helpers for this day. In the past we have run a BBQ as well as having helpers to timekeep and we will need to provide food for the helpers from other schools. Please also add this to your calendars and ask family members (grandparents etc) if they are available to assist. Thank you!
A huge Thank You to our community for supporting our pie drive, this year we raised $1166.00 which will help us in updating our learning areas.
