Congratulations to the students in Year 3/4 who celebrated their First Reconciliation last Friday with Fr Dominic.
In the Sacrament of Reconciliation we have the opportunity to acknowledge to God that we have sinned, made mistakes that have hurt our relationships with others. In the Sacrament of Reconciliation we receive God’s forgiveness and we are reconciled to God and to each other. We also receive the gift of God’s grace in the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
The Sacramental celebration and Mass held after was a lovely celebration for the students; Belle Bardawil, Stephen Clarke, Wayne Kennedy, Eli Mitchell, Aiden Faff, Charlee O'Connor, Gemma Morris and Ayla Morris, their families, the school family and the parish family. We pray that they may always feel the love of God and his forgiveness throughout their lives.
We continue to aim to raise money for Caritas' Project Compassion fundraiser. Mrs Elwin took over 750 drink containers to recycle this week, bringing the total of recycling money made for Project Compassion to more than $400 this year. Thank you to the students for their recycling but also to the families that support this fundraising.
We are now in the third week of Lent with the Project Compassion story of Janice, a Wagilak woman and traditional dancer who tells her family’s stories through movements handed down over generations.
Like many remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, Janice’s faces a range of challenges – low employment and education, financial hardship, poorer health and lower life expectancy.
Caritas Australia supports Djilpin Arts Aboriginal Corporation, which operates a centre for traditional and contemporary Aboriginal arts and culture, providing employment and generating income for local communities. Janice believes that Djilpin Arts’ work is essential to create opportunities for young people to stay on-country, to share intergenerational knowledge between elders and the younger generation - to promote healing, and to keep culture alive.

Vegetable Week & The Big Vegie Crunch
Wondering what Vegetable Week & The Big Vegie Crunch is all about?
Vegetable Week, featuring the fun event ‘The Big Vegie Crunch,’ is a quick and easy event for NSW primary schools, funded by NSW Health. ‘The Big Vegie Crunch’ is an attempt by NSW primary school students to break the record for the highest number of children eating vegetables simultaneously – and to get kids excited about vegetables!
Vegetable Week 2022 will run next week, from Monday 28 March to Friday 1 April, with The Big Vegie Crunch held at 10am on Thursday 31 March. Encourage your children to eat more vegetables.
Mini Omelette
This week Year 3/4 have started working on group projects, each group has been given a topic that they need to work on together to research, plan, design and build. This will continue next term with a special finale. Watch this space!
Kindergarten Kapers
In Maths Kindergarten students have been looking at a number stories and number sentences. They have been using their white board and their new iPads.
Last week our students in Year 3-6 were privileged with a visit from Mr Matt Kean. In order to raise awareness (and funds) for our national cancer. Matt and others (including the Sanson boys completing a part of the journey) will be completing a 1000 km bike ride around the Riverina Region in NSW from the 31st March -7th April 2022.
The aim of this ride is to continue to raise awareness of the disease that has affected Matt's life and so many members of the Riverina community.
The ride will be the culmination of a 3-week journey of visits to students at local schools, as well as community groups in the region spreading the message the 'Prevention is Better Than A Cure'!
All monies raised will be donated to the AMIE ST.CLAIR MELANOMA TRUST & MELANOMA INSTITUTE AUSTRALIA
Our most common cancer in Australia is skin. In fact, Australia is the skin cancer capital of the world! The good news is that skin cancer is one of our most preventable cancers.
Nearly all skin cancers are directly related to your exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation; this means, that when you protect your skin from the sun’s UV radiation you reduce your risk of skin cancer.
Matt will be riding into Lake Cargelligo on Sunday 3rd April, with the Sanson boys. He will leave on Monday morning, 4th April from St Francis Xavier School at 9am. To support Matt on his journey we will be providing breakfast for our school community with Matt and Brett, Mark and Paul Sanson. Come and join us for breakfast on the 4th of April, between 8.30 and 9am - all families are welcome to join us and help us wish the riders luck as they head off.
The aim is to raise $50 000 - you can help by donating at this breakfast or on the following links - https://www.mycause.com.au/p/240745/matt-kean-riverina-melanoma-ride

Students are learning to use 1000s in Maths. They have been working collaboratively to make a building, bridge, or something of their choice. They worked in pairs and the highest number won. The boys; Jayden, Jaydn, Ellis and Caden scored up to 12800 with their project.
Brady and Lashanti also built a very high structure.
